DIESEL-HYBRID SYSTEM – UTILITY (CARIBBEAN ISLAND)
The utility owns and operates the production facilities, as well as the transport and distribution network, of electricity and water that serve about 3,500 customers. Administrative changes resulted in adjustment to the cross subsidy scheme for power prices. In order to make the utility less dependent on imported fuel oils and to decrease subsidies on retail prices, the administrative authority decided to subsidize investment in a photovoltaic system together with an energy storage solution. The new installation will reduce fuel consumption and operational hours of the diesel generators.
